VICKSBURG -- James A. Bacon, 82, of Vicksburg, died Aug. 7.
He was born on April 6, 1929, the son of Wynter and Allie (Sharp) Bacon. On Jan. 10, 1948, he married Maxine Eaton.
Bacon worked for more than 29 years as an assistant beater engineer at the Simpson-Lee Paper Co.
His family includes three children: Elaine (John) Leitch, of Vicksburg; Rocky Bacon, of Centreville; and Patricia (Walter) Dorey, of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by three siblings: Adeline, RV, Bev; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, in 2007; two infant children; one daughter, Sharon, in 1982; two grandsons, Scott and Keith Gregg; two sisters and one brother; and one special nephew, Johnny Mac.
