My great aunt Josephine was an artist. She made many copies of her favorite works from around Sitka. The only not local one was from up north of a cashe on long poles to protect food etc. She did mostly oils.
For a time she was married to Ted Carter, a horticulturist at the agricultural experiment station. They lived on B (now Biorka) street near my family home and they had a big greenhouse. She grew tomatoes and flowers for her Carter Florist shop that was on the side of the Photo Shop.
In her last years she worked for my grandmother, her sister at the Photo Shop in Sitka. She did printing and waited on customers.
She had a history of collecting husbands, five. She had not children and only used her name Edyth on a few paintings.
She was called Jo or in the family Aunt DoDo.
