Isaac (Ike) Duke, 71, Alton Ill., a building contractor, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph's Hospital early Wednesday morning. He died of a heart attack.
A son of the late Isaac and Adaliada (Robinson) Duke, he was born August 31, 1892 at Hayden, Mo.
Mr. Duke, a veteran of World Wars I and II, was married March 4, 1938 at St. Charles to the former Mary Belle (Charmness) Lyerla.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters also half brothers and half sisters.
Surviving are his widow; a son Dwight of the home; a step-son, Jack Lyerla, Godfrey Illinois; two brothers, Levi, Granite City, Ill., and Carroll, Vienna, Mo.; a sister, Mr. Josephine Cook of Belle, Mo., and three grandchildren.
The body was at a funeral home in Alton where services were conducted Friday morning by Brother Paul S. Krebs.
Friends called until the services Friday morning when the body was taken to a funeral home in Creal Springs, Ill. Services there were Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the County Line Cemetery.
His sister Mrs. Josephine Cook and his niece Mrs. Roy Tynes and son, Johnnie and a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Duke and family of Granite City, Ill., attended the services Friday.
