On July 4, 2011 heaven received a very special man. After fighting a brief illness, Stanley D. Bothwell walked home to be with his Lord.
Stanley was born on August 29, 1934 in Eaton Rapids to Guy and Lucille (VanRiper) Bothwell, and graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. On July 31, 1955, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Wright, and they have celebrated 55 years together.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene, and his precious granddaughter Mallory Genta. He retired from Harsco in the early 1990's to enjoy time at home, fishing, and playing his guitar. When he wasn't fishing on Tallman Lake, you could often find him playing his guitar in the kitchen for his family or at local senior centers. He was truly an entertainer at heart.
Stan will be greatly missed by his wife Phyllis, his son Tracy (Janice) Bothwell of Scottville, his 3 daughters Cheryl (Marlin) Miller of Woodland, Gloria (Duane) Closson of Newaygo, and Judy (Tom) Devaney of Ludington, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters Gretchen (Edward) Scott of Fountain, and Ardell Gruse of Ludington, and a very special niece Sue Meredith of Gross Pointe.
Funeral services will be held for Stan at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 8 at the Bachelor Evangelical Covenant Church with Rev. Norm Letsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Bachelor Cemetery. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Friday beginning at Noon until time of services at the church.
Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Stan's family to assist with expenses.
We have all been blessed to have such a strong stable rock in our lives.
Stan will live in our hearts forever.
