Herman Bowers, a native of the Punxsutawney area, died yesterday in the Clearfield Hospital at the age of 77. Mr. Bowers had been a resident of Clearfield for 50 years.
Born May 31, 1872, near this city Mr. Bowers was the son of Abraham and Emily Devers Bowers, and was married to Margaret Elbell, of Indiana County. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are these children: Naolen, Greydon, Linton and Mrs. Naomi Nelson, of Clearfield: Mrs. Emily Dunlap, of Lock Haven, and Eden, of Pontiac, Mi. One sister, Mrs. Laura Cochran, of Leechburg, 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Nicholson Funeral Home in Clearfield and burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park there.
