Reburial Services Are Held For Levelland War Veteran

Reburial services for Cpl. John Henry Chapman, one of five Littlefield brothers who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the war, were conducted Sunday afternoon from the LFD Drive Church of Christ.

A 1942 graduate of Littlefield High School, Cpl. Chapman was killed in a crash of a C-47 Oct. 7, 1945, at Vella La Vella, in the South Pacific. He was a navigator in the First Marine Air Wing.

Minister Ned Fairbairn and Harrell Collard, minister of the church, officiated at services. Burial was in Littlefield cemetery, where military rites were conducted by the John Henry Chapman Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars. The post is named in honor of Cpl. Chapman. All members of the post acted as honorary pallbearers at the funeral.

Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Chapman of Littlefield; four brothers, Jimmie and G. W. of Littlefield, T/Sgt. Loyd W. Chapman, a Marine stationed at Tsintao, China, and Cpl. Charles W. Chapman of Barstow, Calif., also in the Marines; and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Alverson, Littlefield, and Mrs. Ruth Kiker, Crowley. All were here for the funeral.
