Ballet Dancer and choreographer, one of the greatest male ballet dancers of the 20th century.
Igor Youskevitch (in Russian: Игорь Юшкевич)
Born in Pyriatyn - Poltava Gurbenia, Imperial Russia.
In 1920, along with the family, they escaped the Russian Revolution, and settled down in Belgrade Yugoslavia.
In 1932, he was told that he should go to Ballet.
In 1937, he joined Le Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
In 1944, Igor joined the US Navy, and became a U.S. citizen.
In 1946, he joined the American Ballet Theatre.
From 1983-1994, he was the Artistic Director of New York International Ballet Competition.
Married to Anna (Scarpova) of Russian Italian descent. They had a daughter Maria Youskevitch.
