Normand J Andrew was raised in Trenton, Utah, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Adelia Harper.

They were married on June 22, 1940.

Normand J Andrew

Normand J Andrew, 57, longtime employee of the Skagit Valley Herald and resident of 421 N. Barker St., Mount Vernon, died at Veterans Hospital in Seattle Thursday, Sept. 1, 1977.

He was born in Trenton, Utah, Dec., 1, 1919, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander L. Andrew. He received his schooling in that area and was united in marriage to Ruby Harper in Hyde Park, Utah, on June 22, 1940. Mr. Andrew served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in West Virginia before entering the service in 1944 where he was stationed overseas with the United States Navy. After discharge from the service, he moved to Washington where he lived in Bremerton and LaConner. In 1957 he settled in Mount Vernon where he had resided since.

Mr. Andrew had worked as production manager of the Skagit Valley Herald for 22 years.

Mr. Andrew was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had been President of the Sedro-Woolley Branch of the Church, was the first Bishop of the Mount Vernon Ward of the church, counselor in the Stake Presidency of the Mount Vernon Stake and at present was serving as librarian of the branch genealogical library.

Survivors are his wife, Ruby, at the family home; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Darla) Maney of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Anell (Betty) Slavick of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Richard (Coleen) Lyman of Clinton, Utah; one son, Jay Andrew of Mount Vernon; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Cottle, Mrs. Mae Marshall, Miss Ileen Andrew and Mrs. LaRee Cottle, all in Utah; three brothers, Donald Andrew of Idaho, Merlin Andrew of Utah, and Dean Andrew of Arkansas; three grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
