Obituary: Mrs. J.J. Freeman died Tuesday evening at 11:50 after an illness of nine weeks. She was born in Tipperary, Ireland, in Sept. 1828, and came to America in 1839 when she was 11 years old, located in New York and from there went to St. Louis and afterwards to Dubuque, Iowa, coming to Wymore, Nebr., 20 years ago and kept house for her son, Father James C. Freeman. Thirteen children were born, two died and eleven are living. Three sons, Very Rev. J. C. Freeman, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lawrence Freeman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Richard Freeman of Long Island.
The daughters are, Mrs. Joseph Cunningham, York, NE; Mrs. Ellen McCann, Mrs. John Kane, and Mrs. Hanna O'Rourke, of Omaha, NE; Mrs. Bridget Cain, Mrs. Katie Cashman and Mrs. Julia O'Rourke, Dubuque, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Kelley, Valley Falls, Kans.
There are sixty-six grand children and eighteen great grand children to mourn her loss. The funeral took place Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Very Rev. J.C. Freeman sang the Requiem Mass. All the friends and relatives followed the remains in carriages and buggies to the Catholic cemetery, northwest of Blue Springs. May her soul rest in peace. Mary Anna Delahanty married John Freeman on Nov. 24, 1844 in Dubuque, Iowa. Husband John, born on June 24, 1809 in County Clare Ireland and died on November 7, 1888 in
Dubuque, Iowa, was buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque. One of their children was a Catholic Priest: James C. Freeman, Sept. 9, 1847 - Nov. 15, 1915, and was buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Wymore, Nebraska.
