Troy Lee Chambliss, 96 of Star City died Tuesday at Lincoln Heights Healthcare in Star City. He was born November 27, 1918 in the Mt. Home Community (Lincoln County) to the late Levi and Mason Wimberly Chambliss. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Star City, served in World War II with the United States Army/Air Force. He was a retired superintendent for the Star City Street Department, American Legion Honorary Post Commander at Roy Jason Fish Post 37, served on the Board of the Garnett Fire Department, Volunteer Transporter for the V.A., member of the Civilian Conservation Corp., volunteer at Gardner Nursing Home and the Senior Citizen Building.

Also preceding him in death were his wife of 67 years, Floye Marie Youngblood Chambliss; daughter, Margie White; brothers, Joe T. Chambliss, James Chambliss and Carroll Gene Chambliss; sister, Margie Berry.

Survivors include son, Troy R. (Mary) Chambliss; daughter, Melba Kaye Chambliss, both of Star City; 2 sisters, Verna Lou (Buddy Tom) Edwards of Star City and Carolyn (Gene) Lott of Heber Springs; 3 grandchildren, Gene (Lori) Chambliss, Michael (Melissa) Brock and Carol (Johnny) Hankins; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services are 2:00PM Friday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. J.C. Patterson and Bro. Pete Kiefhaber officiating. Visitation is 6:00-8:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Mt. Home Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brendon Cole, Justin Chambliss, Taylor Chambliss, Alex Chambliss, Johnny Hankins, Steve Reeves and Anthony Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class from First United Methodist Church and the men from the V.F.W. and the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roy Jason Fish Post 37 Military Museum, PO Box 214, Star City, AR 71667.
