Married Frances Catherine Ford in Murfreesboro TN on the same day as his brother married. It was called a double-ring ceremony. After a few children Joseph and his brother and their respective families moved to Texas on a wagon train. The wagons made a circle at night to protect each other from outsiders. Joseph settled with his family in an area near Hillsboro. The area was named Woodbury probably after the birthplace of Joseph and his brother.Joseph was a stocky fella and very caring of his wife Catherine. They had more children in Hill county for a total of six: Mahetta Bell, Joseph, James (died in France in WWII buried in Hillsboro), Mamie Azaline, Nora, and Vera. Joseph passed the rawhide wagon chair that he rode from TN to TX to his daughter Mamie who passed it to her son Roy Buford who passed it to his daughter Mary Melinda Jones Robinson. The Burk family owned a city house that was once sat near the cemetery and their country house. Joseph is thought to be descended from the explorer Burke of Burke's Garden in Virginia. Joseph Daniel was a handsome man and is remembered for sending the grandchildren out of the house so his wife could get some rest.
