Obituary:
Verda Outlaw Lowry, age 85 of Crossett, Arkansas, formerly of Warren and Johnsville in Bradley County, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was born May 17, 1924 in Sumpter, AR, a daughter of the late William Alonzo Outlaw and Etta Mae Wolfe Outlaw. She was a tomato farmer and a former employee of Sykes Flooring Company. In later years, she was a sitter for people in need. Also, she was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Warren and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crossett. Verda was the widow of Douglas David Lowry, who died January 15, 1993. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers- Preston Outlaw, Curtis Outlaw and Elmon Outlaw; 3 sisters- Veda Pennington, Lena Bell Sharp and Estelle Fletcher. She is survived by her son, Donny Ray Lowry (Gayla), Johnsville, AR; 3 daughters Judy Blankenship (Doyle), Crossett, AR, Lummye Joy Courson (Wayne), Hamburg, AR and Gaylon Lowry, Gardiner, Montana; 1 brother, Louis Outlaw, Hermitage, AR; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were 10am Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann, Rev. Buddy Boykin and Rev. David Tohlen officiating. Organist was Linda Barrett. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were her six grandsons- Clay Lowry, Benny Lowry, Tony Blankenship, Greg Blankenship, Chad Sweeney and Jared Sweeney. Honorary pallbearers were Louise Brady and the Andy's gang of Crossett.
