Arthur "Art" Walter Cummickel was born August 26, 1906 at Garnett, Kansas and moved to Topeka as a young boy. He was the son of Charles Warren and Olive Eugenia (Crane) Cummickel.
He was World War II Army veteran.
Art worked as a meat cutter for Gem Market and later as a salesman for several years for the John Morrell Packing Company. He was transferred to Birmingham, Alabama in 1951. He then became plant manager for Bryan Brothers Packing Company in Birmingham for ten years. He was a beef supervisor for Mid South Packing Company in Tupelo, Mississippi before he retired in 1970.
He attended the Methodist Church and was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion.
On December 20, 1929 he married Jean Elizabeth Ure in Topeka. Together they had two children: Walter Eugene and Delores Ann.
Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangments. A graveside service was conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, by Philip Billard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1650.
