Daniel J. Bartle, 66, of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully, Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Nanticoke, on May 23, 1943, a son of the late Daniel L. and Mildred Shonk Bartle.
He was a 1961 graduate of Nanticoke High School, where he was a member of the marching band. He also played Taps for military services.
Dan and his wife, Nancy, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on November 9, 2009. Nancy was his best friend and high school sweetheart. They were blessed with three children, Daniel, Keith and Justin (deceased).
His family was of the utmost importance to him. His loss will be felt by many, especially by his loving wife, Nancy, as he touched and influenced so many lives with his love, generosity, understanding and kindness. He was very involved with his children and grandchildren.
He spent many years as a coach for the Nanticoke Little League and the Nanticoke Youth Soccer Association.
Dan was employed at the Topps Chewing Gum Co. for 40 years, as the warehouse and distribution manager, until his retirement in 2005. He later began his own consulting business, Supply Chain Consultants, Inc. Dan was a member of the board of directors for the National Confectioners Logistic Council (NCLC). He also served as a former chairman of the Eastern Confectioners Logistics Council.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Golobek Bartle; sons, Daniel and his wife, Patricia; Keith and his wife, Valerie; grandchildren, Beth, Dani Marie, Cooper, Taylor and Jackson; and his faithful pup, Cleopatra (Cleo).
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Slovak Church, Nanticoke.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m.
