Funeral services for Gene Bean, 75, of Caulfield were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Elijah Church of Christ. Mr. Bean died Thursday, Nov. 24, at Brooke Haven Health Care in West Plains.

He was born Jan. 3, 1936, near Bakersfield to Raymond and Alice Faye Atkinson Bean. On Sept. 15, 1956, in Leota, he married Pauline Tackitt.

Mr. Bean was a veteran having served with the United States Army at Headquarters Com Z in Southern France. He was a truck driver and had worked as a dispatcher and as a deputy for the Ozark County Sheriff's Office; he also worked as the chief security officer at Cloud 9 Ranch and was an EMT.

He was a member of the Elijah Church of Christ for over thirty-five years.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Bean, of the family home; four children, Paula Jean Bass and husband John, Pamela Sue Locke and husband James, all of Caulfield, Patricia Kay Fox and husband Steve of West Plains, and Rusty Bean of Caulfield; four grandchildren, Spec. 4 Jordan Hartley, Josh Hartley, Garrett Fox and Ainsley Fox; five brothers, Joe Bean and wife Juanita of West Plains, Jerry Bean and wife Peggy of Bakersfield, Doug Bean and wife Bonnie of Caulfield, James Bean and wife Mary of Belvedere, Ill., and Lawrence Bean and wife Betty of Union; two brothers-in-law, Lee Olen Tackitt and wife Edie of Salone, Ariz., and Billy Joe Tackitt and wife Patsy of Caulfield; six sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bean of Ashburn, Ga., Ramona Bean, Blanche Hardin and Myrtle Hensley, all of Caulfield, and Doris Bonham and Virginia Tackitt, both of West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Randy and Scotty Bean; one grandson, Cody Hartley; one foster son, Rodney; and two brothers, Elbert and Donald Bean.
Burial will be in the Elijah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
