Elizabeth Permelia Bowen, daughter of Charles E Sprong and Martha Ellen Hendrickson Sprong, was born March 11, 1871 in White county, Ind., and passed away June 11, 1959 at Tabor, at the age of 88 years and three months. She was the oldest of five children born to this union. Her mother passed away when she was but eight years of age.
She joined the Christian church in her youth and was married in 1888 to George M Bowen of Lebanon, Ind. They lived on a farm in that community until 1897 when they moved to a farm near Hastings, where they lived most of their lives.
After the death of her husband she remained on the farm looking after it until her son passed away in 1955. She entered Good Samaritan Rest Home in Tabor in 1956 and remained there until Gad called her home.
To this union were born two children, a son Wilbur, deceased, and a daughter, Mrs Fred Cozad, of Malvern whom she leaves to mourn her passing; also three sisters and one brother, six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
