L. H. Agard was born in Helmsville, New York September 7, 1850 and departed this life at Independence, Kansas October 3, 1923 age 73 years and 24 days.
He came to Kansas in the early days at McCune, where he was united in marriage to Sally McCarty September 1872, to which union 5 children were born; three of whom have preceded their father in death, Benjamin A., Nell D., and William.
He leaves to mourn his death, his faithful wife, one son, John L. of Independence, Kansas, a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Trauger of Scranton, Pennsylvania, a brother, F. M. Agard of Gravette, Arkansas, six grandchildren and numerous friends of both Kansas and Oklahoma.
Mrs. Agard, his wife, is a sister of J.C. McCarty of Elk City, Kansas.
Mr. Agard was a member of the Christian Church of Hobart, Oklahoma where he had resided for twenty years.
He was a zealous and a faithful worker in his church.
At Hobart he is generally known as "Daddy."
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Christian church in Independence, Kansas, conducted by the Rev. Peth*.
Internment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery Independence Kansas.
