Abner B. Alexander Bryson was the son of Samuel Harrison "Sam" Bryson and Sarah M. "Sallie" McKnight.
He never married.
Abner Bryson enlisted in the U.S. 39th Volunteer Infantry when the Spanish American War began. He saw action in the Philippines where he became ill. Although he had not fully recovered, he persuaded his doctors to permit him to return home on a departing troop ship, but he died at sea on the way back to San Francisco. His body was taken by train to Wortham, TX and then overland by his father in a wagon to the Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin, Freestone Co., TX where he is buried.
