GEORGE—Sylvia M. Bomgaars, 89, George, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in George.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today (Saturday, April 2) at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church Bomgaars in rural George, with the Rev. Paul Fischer and the Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will be Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George, under the direction Bolin Funeral Home in George.
Sylvia Bomgaars, daughter Fred and Jennie (Sterler) Hassebroek, was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Ashton. She lived her youth in the Ashton area and attended country school.
She married John Bomgaars on June 30, 1944. They lived in Matlock, Milford and George and a short time in New York and California. They retired to George in 1974. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Canter in George in May of 2009.
She was a member of Lyon county First Presbyterian Church in rural George, Dorcas Society and American Legion Auxiliary. She sold Avon for many years. She loved to bowl, fish and doing crafts.
Survivors include a daughter, Lavonne and the Rev. David Priest of Grand Prairie, TX; two grandsons, Airic and Michelle Priest, and Jessie Priest; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Logan Priest and Jessica Ezeanya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bomgaars; a sister; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie Ezeanya.
