Arnett was born December 17, 1924, in St. Clair County, Missouri, to Lawrence P. Allen and Gladys I. (Summy) Allen. He told his family not to cry, but to be happy for him for he was going to a better place. Arnett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conroe. In April 1943, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the US Army 337th Infantry 85th Division. He was sent overseas in October 1944 and served in Italy until December 1945. He participated in the following campaigns; Rhineland, PO Valley, and NO. Apennines. He was awarded three bronze service stars and a good conduct medal. He was issued a lapel button for the European-African-Middle Easter Theatre Campaign, and American Theatre Ribbon, 2 overseas service bars, and a victory ribbon. He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1946. After returning to Nevada, Missouri, He met and married Eleanor Jones on June 23, 1946. His first job after leaving the army was working for the fire department in Nevada, Missouri s a radio operator. They then moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area, where he worked for Braniff International Airways and American Airlines, as a radio operator in the control tower at the airport. They then moved to Amarillo, Texas and worked for the civil aeronautics administration as an air traffic controller. He and his family then moved to San Antonio, Texas and was an airways operations specialist for the Federal Aviation Agency. In 1965, the Federal Aviation Agency closed their operations in San Antonio, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana and relocated these two facilities to their new facility which is located near Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.

Arnett was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence P. Allen and Gladys I. Allen, his brother, Joe A. Allen, his sister and brother-in-law, June and Vernon Arnett and his brother-in-law, Clyde E. Davis. Arnett Allen is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor; his daughter, Dianne L. (Allen) Bruce of Conroe and his son, Joe Wayne Allen (Dianne) of S. Ogden, Utah.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 13, 2012 in Garden Park Cemetery.
