PLYMOUTH - Raymond 'Doc' Babcock, 63, of Sandusky Street, Plymouth, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Willard, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Plymouth and was a lifetime resident. He was a retired custodian for Plymouth local schools.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Plymouth, a past commander of the Ehret Parcel American Legion Post 447, the past commander of the 5th District County Legion, a member of the 40 et 8 and also a member of the Shiloh-Blooming Grove-Cass Township Fire Department.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Marcella Bannworth Babcock; daughter Catherine Ann Babcock of Plymouth; brother Charles Edward of St. Charles, Mo.; and sisters Laura Lee of Shelby and Ida Mae Fitzgerald of Shelby.

Preceded in death by parents Dr. Carl W. and Lettie Mink Babcock.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth where there will be a 7 p.m. legion military salute, a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and an 8 p.m. 40 et 8 service.

Services will be a 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Paul Perry oficiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association or to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth.
