Born in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of the late Basil and Garnet Cullison and the husband of Judy Cullison of the home. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Cullison.
He was a former fireman, Ohio State patrolman and former director of safety and security at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. Since relocating to the Outer Banks, he worked at Advance Auto Parts.
He was a former member of the Athens Elks Lodge in Ohio and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kill Devil Hills. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golf and being with good friends and family.
Also surviving are sister Barbara Parker of Amanda, OH; brother George David Cullison Sr. of Jacksonville, OH; children, Cassandra Lynn, Basil Joseph, Kendra Ashley (Brand); step-children Adam Weed, Tamara Grantham and Vicki Daniels; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loyal Jack Russell Terrier Holly.
Private services are planned in Wanchese, with a future service to be held in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to www.nationalmssociety.org.
