Ann D. Bagay, 87, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Donora, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Vincentian Home in McCandless. She was born Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1923, in McKeesport, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Seaman) Dzsubak. A kind and gentle spirit - daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ann was a classic mother and homemaker who was devoted to her church, family and she enjoyed the company of her many friends She was a member of St. Dominic Church (Our Lady of the Valley Parish) where she was lifelong member and a former officer of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Slovak Ladies Beneficial Society, the Donora Senior Citizens, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association (JEDNOTA) Branch 127 and the Democratic Ladies Club. Although Ann had a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, she did so with courage and dignity. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John A. Bagay, who she married on Oct. 18, 1941, in St. Dominic Church. Dearest mother and friend of her daughter, Jeanne, and son-in-law, Andrew D. Staursky Sr. of Allison Park; and loving and cherished grandmother of Lizabeth A. Staursky of Alexandria, Va. Ann is also survived by her sister, Mary D. Mayernick of Saegertown; her extended family, Laura and Stanley Merzlak and their son Brian of Wexford; Allen Staursky of Baytown, Texas; and Andrew P. Staursky and family of Birmingham, Ala.; also numerous nieces, nephews, and a son, John R. Bagay. Friends will be received on Friday, April 30, 2010, from 2 until 6 p.m. in the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME, 40 Second St. Ext. Donora, Pa., 15033, (724) 379-6900, where prayers will be recited on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Dominic Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Donora with the Rev. Father Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. A Parastas Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Father Stephen Wahal officiating.
