He was a veteran of the Army and the Georgia Army National Guard, serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a Truck Driver and a member of Abilene Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, wife Debra J. Adams of Richmond, three children Teal Mercaent of Grayslake, Illinois, Angela Pressley of Richmond, David and Nora Stewart Denver, Colorado, stepson Shane and Michelle Whitaker of Hephzibah, Georgia, five grandchildren, sister Stephanie Hebbard of Martinez, Georgia, nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military rites.
