David was born to William J. (Bill) and Diane Mae Bower Clegg on Oct 17, 1961. Although he was born in Ventura the family lived in Ojai, CA. David was a beautiful baby weighing 9 lbs 11 oz and was the first grandchild and great grandchild on both sides of the family. He lived his childhood in Ojai, going to local schools and graduating from Nordhoff High in 1979. He played water polo in high school and swimming was the sport that he loved the most.
He married right out of High School to Lora Dee Richards and they had two children, Brandy Nicole and Cody Alan. David was a truck driver through and through and spent his life driving right up to the last day. Diesel ran through his veins. He was an awesome son with the biggest hugs and smiles and he never forgot a birthday or anniversary. He lived life very simply just the way he wanted, material things did not matter but family and friends did. He was the best grandpa ever to his three blood grandchildren and the three that were adopted, it made no difference to him, he loved them all equally. His Grandson Dakota named him "Bike Papa" when he was 2 years old and the name stuck and he loved it! David loved riding his Harley and went on many outings with friends.He lived the last six years of his life in Palo Cedro, CA on the family home we call "Hunter's Creek" because of the beautiful setting overlooking the river and it was a favorite place of his nephew Hunter. This was a great time in his life and he loved it here, partly because of his wonderful best friend, Peggy.
