Dillon Prosser Ashburn was born at Lordstown, Ohio August 27, 1840 and died April 18, 1918 with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
On August 2, 1862 he married at Warren, Ohio Emily A. Brown. They were parents of seven children, five surviving. Mr. Ashburn and family came from Trumble County, Ohio to Nebraska in an emigrant car, arriving at Gibbon siding April 6, 1871, being a member of the Soldiers Free Homestead Colony.
He donated the original site for Riverside Cemetery and built and operated the first grain elevator in Gibbon. He served four years as postmaster. Mrs. Ashburn died May 30, 1906
