Roy Taylor Fort, age 86, of Wildwood, passed away on November 12, 2012. He was born in Wildwood, FL to the late John and Nora Fort on June 4, 1926. He was a lifetime resident of Sumter County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wildwood. He was a retired farmer and rancher who loved the outdoors. He retired as an H.M.E. II after 39 years with The Florida Department of Transportation. He was the former vice president of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Europe under General George Patton. He also served in the Honor Guard at General George Patton's funeral. He was a member of the American Legion Post 18 of Wildwood and AMVETS Post 793 of Lake Panasoffkee, FL.


He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred; son, Kenneth (Lena) Fort of Wildwood, daughter, Beth (Frank) Tillis of Wildwood and Gail Edwards of Wildwood; he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Suzy Fort. He is also survived by step sons, Gene King of Tampa, FL and Paul King of Bowden, GA; step daughters, Ann Williams and Tammy Johnson of Rutland, FL; grandchildren, Tania Kessler of Springfield, GA, T.J. Strickland, Stephen Doggett II, Chris Tillis, Derek Fort, Kelsey Fort all of Wildwood, FL; step grandchildren, Marty Williams, Shawn Williams of Gainesville, FL, Lydia King, Caleb King of Tampa, FL and Taylor Johnson of Rutland, FL; 11 great grandchildren; many special nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grant nephews and many special friends.

Roy had a passion for gardening and fishing. He was a dedicated husband, father, step-father and a loyal brother. We thank God for Roy's faithfulness toward his loving family and friends; and for his energy and enthusiasm and most of all for his sound advice for his children and grand children.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Banks/Page-Theus Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Wildwood, following with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Wildwood, with full Military Honors.
