Died at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 1981, at East Ascension General Hospital, Gonzales. He was 80, a native of Galvez and a resident of Gonzales. Visiting at Hambrick's Mortuary, Gonzales, from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday. Visiting at New St. John Baptist Church, Gonzales, from 5:30 p.m. Friday until wake services at 8:30 p.m., the Rev. Wilbert Holmes officiating. Religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Richard Rayborn officiating. Burial in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Galvez. Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Annie Mae Kennedy, Gretna; three nephews, Arthur Valentine Sr., Gonzales, John A. Valentine, New Orleans, and J.J. Richardson, Monroe; three nieces, Mrs. Lucille Boyd, New Orleans, Mrs. Rodelle Williams, Gonzales, and Mrs. Betty Hatcher, New Orleans; three grandnephews, Oscar Rollins, Gonzales, Louis Alexander, New Orleans, and Arthur Valentine Jr., Gonzales; a grandniece, Jessie Lee Valentine, Gonzales; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of other relatives. Preceded in death by parents, wife, two sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers are Oscar Rollins, Louis Alexander, Paul Hendricks, Elwin Rollins, Gary Hendricks and Alphonse Hendricks. He was a member of New St. John Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board.
