Laurel "Hope" Gundlach, age 68, went to be with the Lord on 29 Jun 2011 at the Ridgecrest Healthcare Center, after a valiant battle with liver cancer.
Hope was born in Chicago, IL to Howard and Marion Gundlach on 10 Jul 1942.
She lived in Illinois, Colorado, Texas and California. Whenever she lived, she was an active volunteer in the community, helping in programs such as "Meals on Wheels", skilled nursing faciities, childcare centers and animal rescue centers.
In 1982, she received the "Volunteer of the Year Award" for service in Fresno, CA.
In 2004 she moved to Trona, CA to be near her niece and nephew, Debbie and Alan Tsubota. She started working at the DART Thrift Store and achieved the "Client of the Year" honor in 2007.
Hope greatly enjoyed her volunteer work at the DART preschool. She was a member of the "Artists on the Edge" program and loved displaying her paintings, drawings and ceramics at their various art shows. Her other interests included bowling, bingo, playing cards and music.
She was a member of the Christen Fellowship in Trona and a past officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lancaster, CA.
Hope was predeceased by her son Kevin Odegaard, twin sister Laurie Muller and sister Dorothy Neusius.
