Died of smallpox at Benton Barracks, St. Louis, MO.

This grave was moved from Arsenal/Quarantine Island Cemetery St. Louis MO (Defunct) after a flood in 1876 washed away the wooden markers of the graves. Arsenal Island Cemetery was located in the middle of Mississippi River near Arsenal Street. First a city cemetery, then a military cemetery for soldiers during the Civil War.
