William Couton Buried In Austin Cemetery Tuesday
Died At Farm Home Last Saturday Afternoon; Was Nearly 79 Years Of Age
The death of William Couton occurred at the farm home near Austin last Saturday afternoon. Mr. Couton had be in poor health for some time. Funeral services were held in the home and at the Austin church, Tuesday afternoon in charge of L. M. Harwood and burial was made in the Austin cemetery.
Mr. Couton was 78 years and 11 months of age, having been born at Jacksonville, Illinois on April 8, 1860.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Edwards in 1881, and to this union one son, Walter George was born, in 1884, and died January 8, 1911. His first wife preceeded [sic] him in death on November 29, 1886.
On February 6, 1896, he was united in marriage to Barbara Treffer, and to this union six children were born, Mary Elizabeth, Arthur of Loup City, Anna Couton Shrove of Columbus, Norah Couton Schierhorn of Franklin Park, Ill., William Couton of Austin, Nella Couton Sherrill, of Pleasanton, all of whom survive him, except his daughter Mary Elizabeth.
He is also survived by his wife, ten grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. James Coulter, and Mrs. A. E. Edwards of Ravenna, and one brother, James Couton of Glendive, Montana.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joe and Steve Couton and two sisters, Margaret and Catherine.
Mr. Couton was a member of the Odd fellows lodge, and a respected resident of this section of Nebraska for many years.
