Claude Ayers, 75, of Route 1, Parkersburg, died Saturday at the Arbors of Marietta.
Ayers was a U.S. Army veteran of World war II, having served in the 531st Engineer's Division, and retired from Monongahela Power Co. with 34 years of service.
He was born in Cairo, a son of the late Robert and May Hornbeck Ayers.
He is survived by two sons, Orval L. Ayers of Parkersburg and Raymond A. Morton of Walker; one daughter, Helen Wolfe of Roseville, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Ayers of Harrisville and Fred Ayers of Lorain, Ohio; one sister, Kathryn Wigal of Tuppers Plains, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Frances Morton Ayers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Earl Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
