LINDA CAREY FUNERAL HELD
Funeral services for Linda Kay Carey, 2½, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Carey, Marshalltown, were held Saturday afternoon at the Wayside Chapel of the First Methodist Church. Dr. George Truman Carl, pastor of the church, officiated.
She died Wednesday at University Hospital in Iowa City, after eating about 30 tranquilizer pills. The family physician said the child got to the medicine chest at her home and swallowed the pills.
He said the medicine affected her breathing and she was under artificial respiration at a Marshalltown hospital for 36 hours before being transferred to Iowa City.
Pallbearers were Marvin Shipman, Dennis Shipman, Randy Wedmore and Terry Wedmore. Mrs. Earl Ehlers was organist. Florence Hodge and Mrs. Gerald Saylor were in charge of flowers.
Employees of the Mason City Globe-Gazette attended the service in a group. Burial was in Rockwell Cemetery beside a twin brother who died in infancy. The Patterson-James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
