A sunset memorial service for John Nathan Adams, 39y, Cardiff, Calif., was held Oct. 30, 2010, at the Hidden Cove Park and Marina in Frisco.
Adam was born May 27, 1971, in Denton and died Oct. 9, 2010, in a hospital in Reno, New., from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Bishop, Calif., Aug. 9, 2010
He graduated from Kemp High School in 1989 and served as a youth minister and counselor at the First Methodist Church in Mabank, as well as other churches and camps in Texas during the 1990s.
He received a bachelor of science degree in recreation and leisure studies from the University of North Texas.
He taught snowboarding in California and Colorado and competed in Iron Man competitions, with travels to Costa Rica, Chile, Europe and Australia.
A professional fitness trainer in the San Diego, Calif., area since 2002, he focused on wellness, personal training, off-season conditioning for high school and college athletes, and rehabilitation, including work with cancer patients.
His clients included members of the USA Olympic teams, national competition teams and junior Olympic teams.
He had recently incorporated World Renegade, a turnkey program of his design which integrated psychological counseling, mentoring, nutrition, life-style training and conditioning.
Survivors include his mother, Nathalia Childs Adams, Denton; brothers, Tyler Adams,, Denton; Colby Adams, Austin; sister, Treva Adams, Taipei, Taiwan; nephew, Avory Quinn, Austin; aunt Jane Hoshijo, Las Cruces, NM.; uncle Daniel B. Childes and wife Jan, Jacksonville; and Travis Haren, Denton.

John Nathan Adams or (Iron Adams) as he was referred to by friends, was one of the first Black Belt out of the Kaufman school... The school was establish in 1987 and he was one of its first students...he did not complete his training and receive his Black Belt until January of 1997.
John was a dedicated Christian who did not fear death... His strength will be carried on in the life's of all the young people he touched...Just as the strength of all the Black Belt of our Karate family lives in every student taught.
John died from injuries he received in an auto accident along with Natalie Nield , Amanda Post and Wendy Rice.
