Ellis Edmond "E.E." Bayliss, Jr. 84, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, June 01, 2009, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Bayliss was born in 1924, in Gainesboro, Virginia, the son of the late Ellis E. and Ethyl Virginia Bayliss. He was a Real Estate Broker and owned E. E. Bayliss, Jr. Realtor for over 53 years. Mr. Bayliss was a life member of the American Legion, a life member of the Winchester Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Blue Ridge Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Mr. Bayliss was Virginia Realtor of the Year in 1977. He was a graduate of Gainesboro High School and Johns Hopkins School of Electronics prior to enlisting in the Army. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II, in the European Theatre, where he was a Radar and Electronics Specialist.

His wife, Mary Kern Bayliss, whom he married on November 27, 1944, in Hagerstown, Maryland, preceded him in death on July 18, 2000.

Surviving are his daughters, Linda Bayliss Van Evera of Winchester, Virginia, Joan Bayliss Booth of Atlanta, Georgia, Laura Bayliss Simmons of Winchester, Virginia; sons, E. E. "Shotsie" Bayliss, III and Bentley Basil Bayliss both of Winchester, Virginia; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his brother, Delmar Bayliss of Winchester, Virginia.

His sister, Lorraine Williamson, and his brother, Malcolm Bayliss preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be private.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
