Michael (Mike) Buoy was born on November 19, 1957 in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his wife, Christine; his mother and stepfather, Harriet and Ken Olson; and his sisters, Michelle and Debbie.
Mike came to the Tacoma area in 1991 and immediately made the Pacific Northwest his home. He especially loved the incredible array of fall colors each year, and spent many happy hours walking by the waterfront at Ruston Way. He often said how lucky he was to live in an area of such varied beauty and how happy he was to have been able to share that beauty with loved ones.
Mike loved music, and could wile away an entire afternoon listening to records. One of his most cherished memories was attending a Robert Plant concert at the St. Michelle Winery with his wife, whom he had introduced to the world of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and other great music. He was an avid gamer, and had a large online community of friends whose outpouring of support has meant a lot to those he has left behind.
Although he was at times an intensely private man, Mike had a way of bringing a smile to the face of almost everyone he met. He was always ready with a friendly greeting or a little joke, and made it his mission in life to make someone's day a little brighter almost every day. His absence is sorely felt, but the memory of his smiling face and bouncing step will always be a comfort.
A memorial reception was held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.
