Hilma Bowen, 95 of Toledo, passed away October 7th, at the Hospice Care Center. She was born October 29, 1914 at home on Layton Prairie, east of Toledo to Charles and Sallie (McKay) Hurst. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1932. On June 30, 1933, she married Guy Bowen. They were married 54 years. Guy passed away in 1987. In September 1950, she began driving school bus for Toledo and drove for 30 years, retiring May 1980. She was a past Matron of Toledo Eastern Star, Noble Grand of Montrose Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Good Idea Club, Historical Society, and was a Big Cheese in 1993.
Hilma is survived by three sons, Ted and his wife Bonnie, Don, Loren and his wife Laura lee, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. Two sisters Josephine Brewer, Pat and her husband Roy Jacobus, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers Cecil and Vernon.
She enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, and gardening. She was a wonderful loving, kind, and gentle person and will be missed by many.
