Jacqelyn Beth Admire-Borgelt, 69 years of age, died peacefully Friday, November 23, 2012 at home in Tonganoxie, KS, after a long battle fighting breast cancer and its extended complications.
Jacque was born September 29, 1943 at Kingman, KS and her early years were spent in Kingman County.
Jacque graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka, KS and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri and a Master's Degree from Columbia College. Her professional career included working for the University of Missouri Medical Center, St. Louis, MO; Rural Health Organization at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D. C.; University of Minnesota, Division of Epidemiology and Department of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN and the American Academy of Family Physicians in Overland Park, KS. Life and employment changes occurred while in Minnesota when Jacque was blessed with her son, Andrew.
Wanting to be closer to her family, Jacque accepted a position at the American Academy of Family Physicians. She worked for the AAFP until retirement. Jacque's life was consumed with work and raising her son. Another blessing occurred when she reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Larry Borgelt, then a professor at the Oklahoma State University. He retired; they were married and moved to a country home in Leavenworth County, where they enjoyed the country life again.
Jacque's career was demanding, yet, with Larry's assistance, she managed to spend quality time with her animals, co-editing books, traveling, dancing, cooking, playing music, making jewelry, singing in several legendary choir groups and participating in Andrew's many activities.
Jacque was diagnosed with cancer on 9/11/2001, endured 4 separate invasions, yet, she rarely missed work, any family affair, or important events, until she was forced to retire due to complications from multiple brain tumors at 67. Life went upside down in the summer of 2011 when her husband, Larry, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack. Jacque bravely went forward with the help of family, friends, great neighbors, a caring clinic and loving caregivers.
Jacque, on a professional level, has been characterized as highly intelligent, independent, determined, self-motivated, solid & supportive. On a personal level, Jacque was a loving mother, supportive wife, a great daughter, understanding sister, devoted pet owner, gracious host and forever friend. Jacque missed her debut at Carnegie Hall, but now she will sing with the Angels.
