Obituary: Nemaha County Spectator, Wetmore, KS, Friday April 28, 1899, p. 1: "Ontario. DEATH OF MRS. CAMPBELL."
"The community was shocked Sunday to hear of the death of Mrs. H. G. Campbell. Hattie Bailey was born in Ohio, May 12, 1865, and removed with her parents to Kansas in 1879. Deceased was married to Mr. Campbell Feb. 23, 1883; after living here 5 years they moved to Washington state; while there she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal chruch. In 1894 they returned and lived here till death claimed her as his own. She was a loving wife, a kind and affectionate mother, a devoted sister, and was loved by all who knew her. The funeral occurred Tuesday at the M. E. church at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Vernon, of Circleville, and the Rebeccas of Wetmore. A host of sympathizing friends attended the funeral. She leaves a husband, 6 children, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a father to mourn their loss. . ."

The year of Hattie's birth has been found as 1865 in the obituary and as 1864 from research done and received from Sarah Caroline "Carrie" (CAMPBELL) SWAN DEMKO, daughter of Hattie May (BAILEY) CAMPBELL.
[Note: Hattie's husband, Henry Green Campbell, has a grave marker in the Highland Cemetery in Colville, Stevens County, Washington. But, he may also have a grave marker in the Ontario Cemetery in Nemaha County, Kansas. This information is from newspaper articles found in the newspapers in Washington and in Kansas as to where his remains were buried.]
