Mrs. Bates was born in Buffalo, on August 11, 1912, a daughter of the late Elisha and Quincey Franklin. She was a Baptist and was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant.
Surviving are a brother, Manson Franklin of Gibsonville, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
