Anton E. Backhaus, 88, a resident of Kewaskum for the last 29 years died late Saturday evening at the Samaritan Home in West Bend.

Mr. Backhaus was born Jan. 19, 1880, in the Town of Auburn and was a dairy farmer in the Town of Scott, Sheboygan County, for 34 years before moving to Kewaskum to retire. He married Minnie Klug Nov. 23, 1905, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Scott.

She survives, as do three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Winger, of Virginia and Mrs. Adele Smith, and Mrs. Lydia Leifer, of Milwaukee; an adopted daughter Mrs. Elmer Moldenhauer, Kewaskum; a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
