A resupply truck from Chu Lai enroute to Company D, with six Marines on board was attacked by an enemy force near the Phuoc Hoa village complex, in Binh Son District. Grenades and possibly satchel charges were thrown in front of the vehicle stopping it. The VC opened up firing from both sides of the road killing Cpl Rosser and wounded another man who fell onto the road, before the driver managed to shift and reverse the vehicle away from the attackers. A reaction squad arrived but the VC had fled, the Marines recovered Cpl Rosser and a wounded Sgt Basham who was evacuated to the 1st Med Battalion in Chu Lai where he died due to massive hemorrhaging of his wound later the same day.
