Johnny Clingingsmith, a 65-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at the Heartland Health Hospital in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at t the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, with Pastors Gary Watkins and Dan Stratmann officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, south of Princeton.
Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, where the family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mr. Clingingsmith was born on Oct. 14, 1947 in Adair County, the son of Ernest Vernon and Ruth Lorene Rankin Clingingsmith. He was raised and lived most of his life in Princeton, where he was a 1966 graduate of Princeton High School. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Purple Heart for injuries he received in Vietnam.
After his discharge, he worked as an auto mechanic with his father, Earnie, at the Clingingsmith-Lowe Ford Mercury dealership in Princeton for several years. When the dealership was sold, he worked at several other jobs in the Princeton area, including the H bar W Service Station as a mechanic. In 1989 he began his employment with Premium Standard Farms of Princeton as one of their first employees. He retired from PSF in 2006 due to failing health. He also served as a member of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department, a night watchman for the City of Princeton, and was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was married on March 20, 1971 to Sharon Kay Brown, who survives him of their home in Princeton.
He is also survived by three daughters, Misty George and her husband, John, Michelle Lovett and her husband, Lonny and Amy Siemer, all of Princeton; a sister, Sue Ernst and her husband, Randy of Cheboygan, MI; and by four grandchildren, Joseph and Stacy Lovett, and Trace and Lori Siemer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Frances Lorene "Lorie" Clingingsmith; and by a son-in-law, Gene Siemer.
The family requests memorial contributions to either the Salem Cemetery, the Princeton United Methodist Church, or to the Princeton Memorial VFW Post #7159 in lieu of flowers. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
