Birth: 1771
Death: Dec., 1844
Stanly County
North Carolina, USA

Hans Jacob Ifert/Efird was probably born in late 1771 or early 1772, either during the emigration of his family from Switzerland to America, or shortly after they arrived in Pennsylvania. His name is not on their Emigration record, which was written before the family left their home, but if he married his wife Elizabeth Taub/Dove in 1788, he had to have been born at least by early 1772, as he would have been too young to marry when he did if he was born any later. His parents were Hans Joggi/Jacob Ifert and Maria Schaffner. He and his wife Elizabeth Taub/Dove had eight children, George, Martin, Mary, Jacob John, Daniel, Solomon, Sarah, and Elizabeth. Jacob was a prominent citizen in his community. He owned a grist mill and a saw mill. He was very active in the Religious life of the area and was one of the founders of Saint Martin's Lutheran Church in Stanly County, North Carolina. He died in late 1744, the Patriarch of the Efird family in America.
