Daughter of Green Watson Reid/Reed and Myra Gober, she married Alfred Jones Black Sr in 1877 in Fayette Co Tenn.
They were the parents of 8 children: Effie Mae, Ira Washington, James Harville, Elizabeth C, Hunter, William Gober Black, Alfred Jones Black Jr, and one unknown.
Cuba Harp Reid/Reed Black was the granddaughter of Daniel Gober who was born Nov 10 1791 in Granville Co NC, and died Jan 4 1868 in Drew County, Arkansas; and, Elizabeth Arendall.
Daniel Gober signed his Will on Sept 21 1864 in Drew County. Cuba is mentioned in his Will as follows:
"3rd -In the event that my grand daughter Cuba Harp Reid should die without heir, that her portion of my estate revert to my other children and be legally divided among them."
Daniel Gober is buried at Campground Cemetery in Drew County, Arkansas (See: Find a Grave Memorial #21371842.)
After Alfred Jones Black Sr died in 1906, Cuba resided in Barnes, Woodruff Co. She then moved to Abilene, Taylor Co, Texas where she lived with her son Rev. William Gober Black, a school teacher.
Per FAG member Lisa Mason #47715501, at the time of Cuba's death, Cuba was living with her daughter Effie Mae Black McCord in Dallas.
