"Mary Madge Ashbrook
The community was shocked last Sunday when word came over the wire, and by word of mouth, that Miss Mary Ashbrook had been claimed by death.
She had been under the doctor's care for only a few days, and even the members of her own household did not realize her dangerous condition. A heavy cold contracted about two weeks ago, accompanied by a nervous condition, weakened the heart and her life went out.
Mary Madge Ashbrook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Ashbrook, was born at Skidmore, Missouri, May 7, 1883, and departed this life at the home of her parents, in the town of her birth, Sunday, February 18, 1923, age 39 years, 9 months and 11 days. She leaves to sorrow, her parents, one brother, John M. Ashbrook, and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Strickler, Susie, and Mrs. Abi Gray, all residing in Skidmore. She also leaves four nieces and one nephew.
During the ministry of Elder W. A. Haynes, in April 1903, she united with the Christian church and continued faithful in the service of her Lord until called home. She was a member of the Opal Rebekah Lodge No. 487, and ever endeavored to live up to their principles."
