"DEATH OF MRS. R. ABRAMS
On yesterday morning at 1 o'clock the spirit of this good woman took it's flight from a world that had become to her, since the death of her husband last September, a troublous tarring place of which she feign would be rid. Already depleted of strength, by reason of her grief, disease found her easy prey to feed upon, so that after only eight months of separation she departed for the reunion which is the immortal hope of every human being. Surrounded by all of her children, save one, she passed peacefully to her repose, leaving her loved ones sadly bereaved in her death. All of the children are married, except one.
Mrs. Abams had been a resident of Brookhaven for more than thirty years and was greatly beloved, because of her many virtues, by a large circle of friends. To her beloved husband, who preceded her to the tomb, and to her children, seven of whom are left to mourn their loss, she was most devoted. Mrs. A. Kemp, of Hazlehurst, Mrs. Schwartz, of Utica, Mrs. Berger, of the city, Ben. Abrams, of Grand Lake, Ark., and Sam and Isy, of Brookhaven, are all in this city and observed the last sad rites, which took place at 10 o'clock this morning. The eldest son, Joseph, resides in St. Louis and was not able to be present.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the stricken family, so bereft of both their parents within a twelve-month of time. May the pleasant and sacred recollections of the happy family circle, once unbroken and unmarred by sorrow, be a consolation to them in the homes they have made and an inspiration to lead lives as worthy and beautiful as were the domestic ones of those departed."
