Jessie Ailene MOORED always went by her middle name AILENE.
OBITUARY PUBLISHED IN THE COLUMBIAN ON MAY 9 2006:
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, J. Ailene Cammack went home to God's heavenly garden, Monday, May 8 2006. For years she enjoyed singing. She had the voice of an angel and now sings in the heavenly choir with no pain, no sorrow. She was a longtime resident of Vancouver, Washington.
She was born in Salem, Oregon, December 14 1917, to Glen N. and Jessie Moored. She met Theron Cammack, and they married on November 10 1940. They lived in Mabton, Washington until 1947, when they moved to Vancouver. Together they built a home in Hazel Dell where she lived until 2003. She then moved to Independent Living at Glenwood Place where she enjoyed meeting many new friends. She is survived by her son Jim Cammack (wife Barbara) of Port Angeles, Washington, daughter Judi Brower (husband Jerry) of Vancouver, Washington, and grandson Joe Cammack and her precious great-granddaughters MacKenzie and Kelsey of Port Angeles. Her husband Theron and son Tommy preceded her in death.
The garden and being outdoors were her favorite things; she took pride in her flowers, always believing one is nearer to God's heart in a garden. She and Theron were active members of the Good Sam RV Club and enjoyed many campouts. While she was the only driver in the family, she had no fear in driving their motor home across country, visiting many wonderful places. She was a 50-year-plus member of First Presbyterian Church and for many years enjoyed singing in the choir and being active in various women's organizations. At the time of her passing she was still helping to knit hats for the homeless.
The family extends their gratitude to everyone at the Northwest Cancer Center, Southwest Washington Hospice, and Ray Hickey Hospice House for the compassionate treatment, and the caring, wonderful support they all provided. There will be a private family burial service. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Thursday, May 10 2006 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a charity of choice, or to one of her favorite charities: Open House Ministries, Friends of the Carpenter, First Presbyterian Church, or Ray Hickey Hospice House. As she so often said to family and friends-"May God watch between me and thee while we are absent one from the other".
