Mrs. Annie Cofer Black

Mrs. Annie Laura Cofer Black, 68, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 1993 at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon, Miss., Rankin County.

A resident of Route 1, Vardaman, Miss., Mrs. Black was the widow of Verley Isom Black, who preceded her in death. She was a retired employee of Kellwood Company and a member of New Hope Baptist Church, north of Vardaman, Miss. Born December 18, 1924 in Coffeeville, Miss., Yalobusha County, she was the daughter of James Percy Cofer and Martha Ann McCammon Cofer.

Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Dorothy Tallent of Vardaman, Miss., Mrs. Barbara Gunter of Pearl, Miss., Mrs. Verdie Moore of Fulton, Miss., and Marjorie Mann of Houston, Miss.; three sons, James Black, Junior Black both of Houston, Miss., and Jerry Black of Vardaman, Miss.; one step son , Gerald Black of Bruce, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Norwood of Foxworth, Miss.; two brothers, Hugh Cofer of Greenwoodd, Miss. and Roy Cofer of Gore Springs, Miss.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildre.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel, Calhoun City, Miss. Rev. Buford Usry officiated. Burial was at Pilgrams Rest Cemetery near Coffeeville, Miss., Yalobusha County. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
