Wm. Abbott, an aged ex-confederate Army veteran, passed away late last night at his home, 410 Brooks, after a lingering illness of complication of diseases incident to old age. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the Walther-Wymore Undertaking Parlors. Interment will be made in the city cemetery.
Abbott enlisted in the Confederate Army May 1861, and served for four and one-half years. He was wounded in the Battle of Black Hill, and taken prisoner at Schell City, Missouri, about six months before the close of the war. He was held a prisoner at Rock Island, Illinois.
